What exercises can I do to build "bike riding" muscles?
I’m 23 and 220 lbs. I just bought a bike to start biking the mile and a half (uphill) to my work to exercise and save on gas money, but because it’s all uphill, I can’t even make it the whole way there. Even as a kid, I was never into bike riding, I rollerbladed everywhere, so I feel like those muslces were never strenghtened. Any suggestions?
Squats, calf raises, sit ups. These will all strengthen your core and your legs which is what you use to get up that hill to work. All this working out might not really be worth it though.
Working out is hard and boring. What you should really do is go out and ride that bike of yours on the weekends. That is the best way to strengthen biking muscles is to bike. Biking can also be fun if you go for a long bike ride somewhere that has nice scenery and fun to ride. You will be making up that hill in no time. And you will be able to enjoy the outdoors and get in some exercise at the same time.
Bet that ride home from work is fast and easy though huh. lol
good luck and happy riding
How many Calories do you burn while bike riding?
I am about 5’8 143lbs. How many calories do you think a person loses while bike riding?
say 2-4 miles at a time.
The sites u recommended don’t work.
The 2-4 mile bike ride is on top of a daily walk and 100-150 sit ups a day.

Will riding my bike make blood coming out of my butt worse?
So I got a colostomy reversal surgery in September, stayed in the hospital for a month and a half, two weeks ago had granulation tissue taken out because it caused alot of bleeding. Now, suddenly more blood has been coming out of my butt and I’m not sure why..
A "cyclocross bike race" is coming up on Sunday. I’m wondering if I should lay low on the bike riding? Because It might be causing the bleeding to be worse? I’m not quite sure.
You need to have a colonosopy done to see what’s going on in there. I wouldn’t wait to long either. Forget the bike riding because if I recall the seats are skinny and that’s the worse kind for you. Apparently the Surgeon didn’t do a good enough job of sealing the tissue. Wishing you the very best young lady, that’s a situation you don’t need to be in. If nothing else, get another opinion of your problem. Good luck.
Is walking every day for 30 min on the weekday & riding my bike for an hour on the weekend, good exercise?
What does the walking and bike riding do for my body?
I walk from school and I ride my bike, just because I like to ride my bike.
I’m a girl, if that makes any difference.
Yeah it’s good for you!!! Walking and biking are considered cardio and it keeps you fit while burning extra calories every day. It’s good that you are doing an activity you love. Try other sports like soccer, swimming, or even jumping rope or dancing! Every time you move your body, it counts.
The Growing Bike Culture Around The World
You know bike culture is growing continuously even though slowly when you start to see more and more recumbent bicycles on the highways of a place like NY City, previously one of the most notoriously bicycle-unfriendly places around and still host to irritable drivers and hostile policemen.
It has for a while been recognized a reclined rider position, together with the frame geometries 100% unique to that situation, make for better aerodynamics and much quicker speeds so fast, actually the land record for speed in a human-powered vehicle is held by a recumbent bicycle.
So fast, in fact , that early on bicycle races banned recumbent because of the design’s inherent advantages . After winning a few races, it became quite clear that, all else being nearly equal, a recumbent rider was sure to triumph each time. And so the recumbent quickly faded from preferred view and has been banished to mostly home-built designs.
But cycling is kind of the rage in Europe, particularly the more socially progressive states like Germany and Holland. In Germany, there’s even a town which voted to ban all car traffic to the fringes of the city, while in the Netherlands there are numerous more bicycles than autos on the road on any given day! And so it is that in these nations the recumbent bicycle has found reasonably prevalent adoption, and the trend looks to be catching on even in a rough place like New York.
Recumbents, or bents for short, can be found in several different designs, from low-riders that look just about as if the individual is laying down supine to choppers that almost seem like classic motorcycle designs. In reality ‘bents’ are a lot more sundry than regular bicycles ( AKA uprights ) are, which is 1 explanation why they aren’t yet as widely supported by bike shops in the United States.

I am slim i bike ride alot and i was wondering if bike riding makes your butt grow and tones it?
what benefits does your body get from riding a bike? does your butt shrink or get more firm and tone?
I would think that it would firm up the butt because your muscles in your thighs are being toned. I’m not sure if it would make it shrink, but I hope not. I think that a nice juicy butt looks the best.
Custom basketball uniforms vs. Stock Uniforms
Why are so many teams now having their basketball uniforms custom designed, rather than using the standard stock uniforms that can be purchased for less? This is only a puzzling concept to those who have never hit the court in a big basketball game wearing a stock uniform.
There is a big mental component to basketball and teams that show up to the court in less than impressive stock uniforms often feel inferior to the teams that show up larger than life in custom made team uniforms that feature their own designs. Teams wearing custom uniforms have the mental edge right from the start.
There are many other reasons to go with a custom made basketball uniforms including quality, but the mental component is huge for players.

How do I reduce redness in the face while mountain bike riding?
At school my Outdoor Ed class are mountain bike riding this term and I find that my face is the only one that turns bright red. Last in PE I could avoid it by slowing down my pace and relaxing, but I can’t with mount bike riding. Also if you have any tips on breathing and positioning while riding.
Additional info:
My skin is pale
I take sips of water every now and then while riding.
It’s probably just your skin/body type. Just enjoy the biking! Anyone gives you jip, tell them you go red cos more oxygen is going round your system!
Mountain Biking Is Very Popular
Regular bikes compared to mountain bikes may have a smoother ride and are slower and heavier but are great for riding on the street. You can find information about mountain biking online or in magazines; they are geared toward beginners or professionals. Mountain biking is not really thought of as exercising but it is a great way to burn many calories.
If your interested are off-road you will need bike that can handle the terrain so you will need some big treads and a good suspension to handle the bumps and holes so get a good mountain bike, if you are just riding for fun then a regular bike will do. There are so many different styles of mountain bikes so when you are looking to purchase one make sure it fits the terrain you will be taking it on and make sure it fits your riding style. If you are going to be rough on your bike and plan on going through gravel, dirt and jumping off hills you definitely need a mountain bike.
The chassis on a mountain bike is sometimes referred to as the skeleton, this is a term that refers to the fork, frame and suspension and is looked at as one unit. Mountain bikes are equipped with knobby tires, large number of gears and handle bars that are wider; they also include shocks and a much stronger suspension. You can choose from many different suspensions on your bike, make sure the suspension you choose is going to fit the type of cycling you intend for it. These used to be the most common kind of mountain bike but they are rapidly being replaced by the more comfortable models which feature some sort of suspension system. They have had front suspension on bikes for a while now; the rear suspensions have just come into the market place, it took longer because of all of the design complexities.
Of course, there are many other things to consider when purchasing a mountain bike, but for the beginner, it’s best to just narrow it down to how much you want to spend and what kind of suspension you’re going to want.
If you want to ride your mountain bikes look for trails that are suited for mountain bikes. If you don’t have any trails or jumps, you can build them.
When you first try the toe clip style of pedal you might want to spend some time getting use to it, it will take some practice. Getting a feel for your pedals while first sitting on your bike, keep one foot on the ground and practice moving your foot away from the pedal.
If you have clip less foot pedals or toe clips, you will want to practice this quite a bit. Turn your bike upside down, move the pedals and shift gears. The pedals can also use a regular application of lubricant.
The purchase of your helmet should be at least as important as buying your bike. About 90 percent of the people riding can reduce head trauma just by wearing a helmet. Cost shouldn’t be a factor as a good helmet can be acquired for around $25-$45.
