Contador proved being the new Merckx,the cyclist he’s going to be mentioned with in the same breath.He won the triple crown with 25 years (july’07-september’09) in just 15 months.Armstrong sholud have respected that,being 38 and away from comp for 4 years.I even think AC was benevolent with Astana and Lance,waiting for Klöden and towing LA on top of the Ventoux.He should have crushed them,just to show how ludicrous Bruyneel’s and LA’s strategy (double-captaincy) was right from the onset.

The Tour is a sporting event – and based on the ample evidence of their televised performances Contador beat Armstrong head to head – easily! That isn’t a surprise – almost everyone in the Pro cycling arena predicted that – Lance himself knew that would be the case!
The problem – Lance got ticked off somewhere near the first Stage in Monaco and all broke lose – culminating in Lance announcing a new team DURING the Tour – and totally ‘dissing’ Contador on the last day.

i totally feel you… there is no doubt, armstrong is a great champion but i find him a bit unbearable at this year’s tour. The point is not Contador’s # of tour win vs. armstrong’s, it is Contador won the tour 09 in a convincing manner. I saw every stage live and read many Contador’s quotes, he’s very intelligent and mentally strong (yes he did make 1 tactical error, if he hadnt done that Kloden would replace armstrong’s podium place). VS commentary totally ruined the show haha

No, Amstrong was allways preparing to be ready in July, but never was at top of his form in May or September… Contador allready has 1 Vuelta, 1 Giro, 2 Tours (and he wasn’t able of participating in last year’s tour… if he had done it he would have 3 Tours).
