Are the public losing interest in the Tour de France?

Due to the amount of drug or suspected drug cheating in the tour de France , are the public going to losing intertest?
Is every winner from here on in going to be labeled a drug cheat simply because he won it?

For sure…
When people get well and truly disillusioned, it’s sure to affect their interest in the sport. On my own account, I’ve been watching cycling sports on TV for years, but I kinda feel let down now. True I knew there were some bad apples, but It’s just all over the place now – if you can’t trust them you can’t feel for them…

Wasn’t aware that the public was interested. Most folks were probably more interested in Lance Armstrong (U.S. folks, at least).

yes and no. the people who dont ride are going oh man everyones doping no fun. the people who ride race and love competition and tactics will watch it none the less. i intend on taping it all. people who cycle wanna see the drafting descending cornering and climbing abilities as well as how well teams do as a whole. any person who just watches it to see guys go fast on a bike will probably be less interested do to the doping that has recently occured.

the public could care less about the tour. now that people are drugging and lying about it makes the public care even less. more people watch poker or fishing more than the tour de druggies

I don’t think people are loosing interest because of drug use.
There is always something in the news about drug use in all sports. The media has to find something interesting, or what they think people will want t hear about and they jump on the band wagon for ratings. I think the reason the touries are loosing interest is because there is no one to root for or against after Lance left. The excitement is gone with no one to be rooting for. Just like nascar, Dale Sr. died so all his fans root for Jr. and they all hate Gordon and they love to jeer at him. But if he left the race circuit it wouldn’t have the excitement they like. People seem to have a need to root for a winner but also need to have someone they want to see loose. If you go to a sporting event which do you want to happen more, your team win or the other team loose ?
I am a true Lance Armstgrong fan, mostly for what he did before he started winning the tour, I have his livestrong band tatooed on my arm. The way the French are still trying to discredit him is discusting. For the tour to be sucsessful we need people to root for, to see them excell beyond the others and to see if they can do it again next year. Blood doping seems like such a stupid and crazy thing for a cyclist to do and I have not heard of any official evedince that anyone has ever actually done it. The media needs to find something or someone to report about to interest people in the sport not to discredit the athleats.
Just my opinion, you are welcome to have your own.
