How do I become the best Tour de France climber?

the tour de france is 2000 or more mile long and goes for three weeks in july.

first, you need to have a ridiculously low BMI because climbing is a power to weight ratio kind of thing.

i.e. my wife is 96 lbs and 5’2" her BMI is 17.6 this is about right. my BMI is 23.6 at 5’8" and 155 lbs. no matter how much i dream, i have no chance.

Levi is a really good climber for someone his size, but the best are tiny people. i.e. Gilberto Simoni who’s BMI is 17.9.

it helps to live and train at a really high altitude so that you’re used to the lack of oxygen. think of famous mountains like the rocky’s, dolemites, alps, or andee’s. there are some really great climbers from Columbia.

lastly, spend 8 hours a day on your bike starting now!

Without untraceable performance enhancers you probably don’t have a chance. Take a look at Lance Armstrong’s website. He may have some tips for you.

Don’t listen to the brats who whine about drugs… they’re just afraid of the pain.

You’ve gotta increase your power and decrease your weight. Increase power by spending a lot of time on a road bike doing long rides.

Decrease your weight by eating well and going to bed hungry every night. Eat your largest meal for breakfast and your smallest meal for dinner. After all rides have a recovery shake or a glass of skim milk with some honey in it.

And remember, you are MUCH faster a little over weight than a little under weight. Once you go so low you’re unhealthy your body will just crack completely. So err on the side of being too heavy.

Oh yeah, and hire a coach

You might want to get off the computer, and go do a double century before bedtime.

Grow up in the Pyrenees, climb over the passes from one city to another twice a day in your big ring, and never weigh more than 130 lbs. Then start racing, get sponsored, and join a pro team by the time you’re in your early 20′s. You need to put out a constant 5 watts for every kilogram of weight for three weeks in a row, too.

Then show us what you’ve got.
