Even though EPO use gives an improvement of 20%. 20% doesn’t sound like a lot but multiplied over the length of the tour… 3500km = 700km LA beat them all. What a guy!

As far as this Merckx, LeMond, Indurain comparison deal… They are all great cyclists and athletes, but I think Lance has brought more publicity to cycling, especially in the latter part of his seven straight wins. Despite the publicity being about “did he, didn’t he? He said, she said”, Lance gets more people out cycling than anyone else (in North America at least).
Doping aside though… do you think he’ll win this years tour??

maybe armstrong couldn´t have won all that one day classics or the giro or la vuelta but i i would have challenged LeMond, Mercks, Fignon to win 7 Tours…that´s just over human limits. doesn´t matter the use of drugs… that achievment is over human capabilities

lance armstrong was a tour rider not a lot else, eddy merckx is the most complete cyclist ever to have raced, giro d’italia, 3 x milan-san-remos, 2x gent-wevelgens, tour of flanders, fleche wallone and paris robaix all before the age of 25 and before he rode the tour, amazing.

You dont know what your talking about. Cyclists use steroids to aid in muscle rebuilding after working out. You recover faster and are fresher the next day when “on”. They don’t take steroids to get more muscles. Cycling is not limited by the amount of muscles you have.

Do you people even know of Eddy Merckx or Bernard Hinault at all? Lance was good don’t get me wrong but he wasn’t the best… he didn’t win 525 races or 11 grand tours like Merckx and a slew of other races. So please study up before you make statements like that

kingalleles Lance was not on anything except his for 5 hours a day for 20 days..Lance was born to ride a bike. his femurs are 3 inches longer than the normal human, and his heart is 4x bigger. he can pump more blood to his muscles in only a tenth of the pumps our hearts do

oh,btw most competitive cyclists use anabolic steroids at some point sometime… usually during there training, then they come off them for a few months, or so prior to competitions when there at risk of being tested…who wouldn’t use them? a lil won’t do them any harm”is what they think, just to gain a bit of extra muscle which the body doesn’t naturally produce no matter how hard you train.
